I prefer the term Lifestyle to portraits, because I try to capture who you are and what you’re about, rather than ‘stand here, do this, and….smile!’

A lifestyle shoot is normally on location, somewhere of your choice, a special place to you. It’s a relaxed and fun shoot, allowing your personality to come through into the images.

Before the shoot we will discuss your requirements, I do not use cheesy props, just you, your family and the environment you choose to be at ease in. You are guaranteed not to get the ‘hard sell’ treatment, you buy what you choose to buy, if that’s nothing…..then that’s up to you!

Your images are placed online for you to view and make your choices of products available at your leisure, I will simply send you an email to let you know when they are ready. You buy direct from the site, and your products are delivered to your door.

It does help if you know a bit of Spanish, as not everybody in the world speaks English as we seem to think!  The cars are unbelievable, a throw back to the 1950′s era when America and Cuba were mates. Old Chevy’s, Oldsmobile’s, Ford’s etc are every where to be seen. You can get an hours guided drive around in an old car for around £20.

The architecture is awesome but a lot of it is crumbling away with time. A lot of building work going on, but how long before work is finished is anybody’s guess as building materials are hard to come by due to embargo’s in place. Here’s a few pics taken on my Lumix GF1

From the Stables Market which is set under brick arches built in 1874, to Camden lock village, which is situated along the towpath of the Grand Union Canal, to Camden Buck St. Market, the range of clothes, food and jewellery is immense! and after all that hard work shopping and taking in the sights, get a beer and chill out in one of the traditional London pubs or trendy bars dotted around.

The market or markets, as there are a few different sites can be found via the Northern line and getting off at Camden Town, then just follow the crowds!  In February 2008 there was a massive fire, which wrecked the market, but it has now been rebuilt and is now bigger and better than ever. The locals are friendly and the place is superb…go there!

At last we have some blue sky and sunshine in Peterborough, it’s been a long time coming but it is very welcome, and is a reminder that summer is just around the corner………phew!

I decided to take advantage of the weather and set out to try our latest toy, a Panasonic Lumix GF1. This is a four thirds format camera, it’s a bit like a cross between a compact and a DSLR, it has 12.1 megapixels and can be used with interchangeable lenses just like a DSLR. It is also capable of video capture up to HD level, which makes this a very capable bit of kit, and with it’s compact rangefinder like size, makes an ideal travel camera.

I took our out with the 14-45 mm lens that came with it, this converts to a 28-90 mm if comparing it to the old 35 mm format, so quite a usable lens. I also took a 4 gb SD card as I would be shooting in RAW format and the file are a lot bigger than JPG’s, and a tripod, not something I would normally take out as I prefer to travel light and lugging a tripod around isn’t my idea of a good day out! But there is a reason…..

HDR or High Dynamic Range photography is a method of merging several images into one, each image shot at a different exposure from concentrating on the highlights to shadows and allowing to preserve the details in all areas. To do this, you must capture a range of images, I chose to use a range of five, two under exposed, one normal exposure and two over exposed. All this needs to be carried out with the camera perfectly still in in the same position……..hence the Tripod!

I started out by taking a HDR image of the bridge over the River Nene which is accessed off the slipiroad from the A47 near Ailsworth. Then into Ailsworth itself to find a few images, one being the Royal oak pub, with its thatched roof looking lovely in the sunshine. I carried on down to Wansford, to take a few shots by the river, and then up to Sibson airfield, where  a biplane was just landing…….so another HRD oppotunity!

This first time out with the GF1 really impressed me, it’s a superb little camera, easy to use and capable of producing fantastic images, with all the qualities of a much bigger, heavier DSLR, without all the trouble of carrying the weight around.
